My Dad's Bounty Hunter Netflix New Series Season 1 Review

My Dad's Bounty Hunter Season 1 Review

Netflix's latest animated kids show is a hit. 8-year-old Sean and his older sister Lisa go to their father's house to spend the weekend together. But when the father gets a call to work, they try to escape the boredom by getting into the trunk of his car, only to find themselves going into space. It turns out that the father is not the truck driver they thought he was, but an intergalactic bounty hunter. Much to Dad's dismay, they tag him as he tries to catch his next target and get home before Mom finds out.

My Dad's Bounty Hunter features a great voice cast, including Stranger Things actress Priah Ferguson, who voices Lisa. Sean's voice, voiced by Jacobi Swain, is also particularly well chosen. It also has some mixed art - when the story cuts to the past, it oozes more cartoon animation and then returns to modern animation, which adds to the appeal.

Some of the best parts of the show are when the father chooses to refuse his favor and Lisa helps free the enslaved population of Chillas, which is endangered.

Things are a little heavy for a kid's show - the kids' parents are separating, and that creates some uncomfortable tension in some episodes. My father also suddenly gets angry with the children. The tension in their family dynamic begins in the first episode and resurfaces several times throughout and at the end of the show. The long dialogue scenes that go with these parts of the story can make young kids lose a bit of interest, but the show usually adds some excitement in the short term. It also has some humorous parts that can make you laugh.

Dad usually doesn't spend much time with the kids and Lisa resents him for that, but it all works out in the end. Overall, this is a really fun kids show with a great concept. It shows that we should never ignore extreme wrong and always do the right thing. The family dynamic creates a bit of an unsettling tension, but it helps give the story a great ending.
