Buddy Daddies Episode 6 Story And Review

Episode Recap

Episode 6 of Buddy Daddies begins with Kazuki watching the news and learning about the child's terrible behavior. He is worried that Miri will grow up and become a criminal like a child. He reveals that his parents' abandonment caused him to act the way he does now, so he doesn't want to be too soft on Miri. Kazuki promises Miri to be a more attentive parent.

Kazuki picks Miri up from daycare, but Anna informs him that she heard rumors about Miri fighting with her friend. He asks Kazuki to discuss the situation with Miri. At home, Miri plays Morio Kart with Rei. Kazuki confronts Miri about the fight. Miri gives Kazuki vague answers and ignores him. Kazuki tells Miri more about the situation, resulting in her running to her room and telling Kazuki that she hates him.

In the morning, Rei sees Kazuki preparing dinner for her visit to Miri. He wonders if Kazuki is trying to get on Miri's good side because of the battle discussion. Miri comes to the table and still hates Kazuki. Left alone, Kazuki worries that Miri will turn to crime in her old age. He notices that he forgot to give Miri lunch and runs to the nursery before the walk starts.

Kazuki bumps into Rei and Rei tells him that Miri has already gone on a field trip. Kazuki promises to give Miri dinner and drags her along despite Rei not wanting to help. Miri, Anna and her friends come to the zoo and investigate. At the monkey exhibit, a boy named Taiga, Miri's problem, scares her and her friends. Miri tells him to stop. He and his friends go in another direction. Taiga promises to visit the lion exhibition alone.

Miri chases after Taiga because she says it's too dangerous to travel there alone. Meanwhile, a strange man about to rob a store enters the zoo after seeing several police cars in the area. Miri and her friends arrive in Taiga. Her friends see Anna and the others lost, but Miri says she's been through this before.

At the same time, Kazuki and Rei are looking for Miri from afar. Kazuki sees Miri holding Taiga's hands and believes her to be his girlfriend. Seeing two other girls behind Taiga and Miri, Kazuki believes that Taiga is so-and-so. Kazuki starts shouting non-stop and attracts the attention of other people. Kazuki and Rei follow Miri and her friends, wondering if she's gone missing. Although Rei asks Kazuki to give her the dinner so they can leave, Kazuki wants to keep Miri safe.

Kazuki hears Miri calling the boy Taiga and remembers that he is the one he supposedly fought. Miri and her friends are relaxing in the parking lot and Taiga spills water on her shirt. Miri takes a cloth and wipes it for him. Kazuki is surprised at Miri's kindness towards Taiga. Miri sees the shop suspect trying to steal food from the cart and tells him to stop. The man tries to push Miri aside, but is hit with a stone. He leaves the food and runs away. Miri and Taiga come across some Morio Kart attractions and get excited by them.

They both talk about the game as Miri's other two friends wonder if they are friends now. Meanwhile, Kazuki is annoyed by Miri's kind words towards Rei and her Morio Kart skills. After a short walk, Miri and her friends sit down on the grass to have lunch. Miri realizes that she forgot to eat lunch. Kazuki tries to give it to her, but Rei says it hasn't appeared. Taiga surprises everyone by offering Miri some of her lunch. Taiga apologizes to Miri and the others for being rude to them and promises not to do it again.

He points the gun at Miri's head and demands that she give him the food. Kazuki and Rei slip on their mascot costumes, beat up the criminal, and leave.

On his way home, Kazuki realizes that Miri is more careful than he expected. At home, Miri runs into Kazuki's arms to tell him how much fun she had on the trip. Rei gives Kazuki Miri's notepad. It turns out that Miri tried to stop Taiga from fighting and accidentally punched her. Kazuki hugs Miri and apologizes for doubting her. The episode concludes with someone named Karin arriving at Kyutaru's shop.

  Episode Review

Buddy Daddies delivers another wholesome and enjoyable chapter for fans to digest this week. This episode centers around Kazuki's constant worry about Miri's future. This chapter has a similar feel to the episode of Spy X Family where Yor rushes to Anya's school to deliver the gym clothes. However, this chapter had better value than that.

While it is important to care for your adopted daughter, there are times when it is best not to overreact to situations. This episode hits home by showing Miri making kind and courageous gestures in front of her parents and friends. We also get to see Miri's mature side for once. Previous episodes portrayed him as this aloof kid, but in this episode, he feels like a natural leader.

It will remind some of Tommy from Rugrats. It would have been great to see a chapter dedicated to Miri coming of age, but it was a pleasant surprise to see them show off these remarkable emotions and actions. The debacle at the store with the suspect pointing a gun at Miri sent slight chills up my spine and reminded me that the show can get dark at times.

Overall, this was another fun chapter of Buddy Daddies. Kazuki and Miri got a lot of development and it was able to handle a better segment than the more popular anime. This demonstrates why it's best to wait and watch a program before labeling it a mere copycat.
