Velma Netflix New Web Series Season 1 Episode 9 Recap And Review

Episode 9 Recap

He blocked out the last two years of his life, but if he's happy, his memories should come back. If they do come back, it will only be within the next 72 hours.

Velma erases all traces of Sophie's presence in their house so they can bring Diana there, where Velma makes up lies to please her mother. The biggest lie is about Amanda. Velma can't let Diya find out that Amanda cheated on her, so she claims Amanda has a baby with Norville.

Even though Norville gives Velma everything to take care of Amanda, Daphne tries to find a way for her and Velma to get into Brains' upcoming party now that they're officially dating. They boosted her and Fred's popularity after the Brains betrayed them in the mines.

Norville continues to help Velma, but she never returns the favor. When a welder finds a mask in Lamont's office, he calls the cops without consulting Norville. They are about to arrest her father until Lamont explains that he only made the sword for Norville's birthday, which Velma had of course forgotten.

He would never do the same for her, so she tells him that they are no longer friends.

Sophie, Aman and Diya also find out that Aman cheated on her and fathered a child with Sophie. Velma thinks this means that time is running out for Diya to stay happy and regain her memory. But over time, a momentary memory returns to him. He thinks he remembers who the serial killer is. He is.

  Episode Review

Despite the constant stream of jokes and one-liners, I laughed maybe once throughout this episode. Adding to that disappointment, I can't believe the anticlimactic reveal of who the serial killer is. When your answer (like mine) is a sarcastic "Yeah, right," it's not the most dubious cliffhanger. It looks like Diya's memory is still foggy, so there will definitely be some twists and turns in the finale!

If there's one thing I can appreciate about this episode, it's the show's consistency with its commitment to Daphne's popularity. He doesn't magically stop caring about being famous just because he likes Velma. It's refreshingly realistic; if only the whole arc explaining that fight wasn't so shallow.
