Velma Season 1 Episode 10 Recap And Review
Velma Season 1 Episode 10 Recap
In order to approach her mother and question her, Velma decides to get arrested. He sees Fred angry because he doubts his mother's capabilities and is able to enlist his help to get arrested.
Velma is put in a cell with Diya, who robotically tells Velma what she told Sheriff Cogburn. When he tries to say what's really going on, that's all that comes out. He thinks he is being hypnotized. The sheriff then takes Diya away.
What caused Velma's hallucinations?
Meanwhile, Daphne finds a note and a pocket watch from her mother. Carol says she almost died when she found him and it has something to do with the killer.
Daphne breaks Velma out of jail and shows her her pocket watch. Then Velma remembers that someone wearing a welder's mask hypnotized her, causing her to hallucinate and not find her mother. The pocket watch had the name of General Harry Meeting written on it, and he was a master of hypnotism.
Who owns the pocket watch?
Gigi yells at him for betraying Norville, who transferred schools just because of him. Velma didn't know because she ignored Norville's voicemail as usual.
Velma goes back and listens to all the voicemails Norville has left her so far. Two years ago, he left a voicemail to apologize for his mother being taken and praised the new glasses his mother had left behind.
He then realizes that Diya's glasses are made by Jones Gentlemens Accessories. He realizes that the pocket watch belongs to Victoria. Velma sneaks into Jones' underground lab while Aman picks up the cops. As he does, he leaves a message for Norville to tell him that he will always be his best friend. He inadvertently ends the voicemail by saying, "I love you."
Is Victoria Jones a serial killer?
He frees them and sets bats on the serial killer. He tells Daphne and Fred his theory. The third body wasn't used to frame him (it was just used to break Fred out of prison), so it makes sense that Victoria Jones was the killer. Victoria Meeting Jones, i.e. General Meeting's daughter.
Velma unmasks Victoria, who reveals that she wants to replace Fred's brain with someone more capable of running the company, like Daphne. He is Dr. He reveals that Perdue was successful in the brain replacement procedure, but Harry is trying to take all the credit. So Edna canceled the experiment and hid her journals. Harry institutionalized him, but he couldn't replicate his experiments without the journals.
As Diya discredited the magazines, Victoria hypnotized her into carrying out her plan. He originally wanted Daphne's brain, but now he sees that Velma is the perfect brain for Fred.
A hypnotized William Jones then enters and beats up Velma. Daphne and Velma distract her mother as they escape.
Who Kills Victoria Jones?
Victoria can trick Fred. He catches up with Velma and Daphne and pulls a gun on them. Thinking they are going to die, Daphne tells Velma that she loves her. Velma echoes the sentiment, but she accidentally addresses Daphne as Norville.
Just then, Norville swoops in to save them. He tells Velma that he loves her too, as she pulls out her sword to reflect Victoria's bullet. He jumps and causes a rock to fall on Victoria and kill her.
How does 'Velma' Season 1 end?
In the end, the children involved are saved. Together they make a pretty toxic group now, but Velma doesn't care as long as she gets her mother back.
But the trouble isn't over for Crystal Cove, it seems. The season ends with Sheriff Cogburn filing the Velma case. Someone follows her and she screams as blood splatters on the window.
Apparently there's another killer out there. Maybe there's something in the case file that this new killer can't let out.
Episode Review
At the end of episode 6, Carroll comes across a gold chain. In hindsight, the final scene of episode 6 was sloppy. Why did Carroll pick up the watch (completely hiding the watch part with his small hands) and study the chain carefully, as if it were all important? The show obviously wanted to hide the existence of the pocket watch from the audience and chose the poorest and most nonsensical way to misdirect our attention.
The revelation of who the real serial killer is at least makes sense – but it's a complete rush to enjoy and understand all the clues that have to come together. The finale also drops the ball on the only aspect of the show that has managed it: character arcs.
Velma had character arcs, but I enjoyed several pockets of her personal development. However, the finale doesn't care about any of the character's deeper emotional arcs, preferring to wrap up complex relationship issues with rushed, funny and insensitive "pick-up" moments. I guess they can touch on these more next season, but I can't help but care.
